Awami National Party (ANP) Central president Asfandyar Wali Khan on Sunday condemned the fresh waves of the terrorism in neighbouring Afghanistan, saying that peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan was best interest of Pakistan as well as the entire region. "Peace on Afghan soil is indispensable for everlasting stability in Pakistan and rest of the region, ANP Chief said while addressing a public rally on the occasion of the death anniversaries of Bacha Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan here.

The 30th death anniversary of Bacha Khan and 12th death anniversary of Abdul Wali Khan was observed on Sunday.

Asfandyar Wali said that there was a devastating attack in Afghanistan on Saturday. "We request the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan to talk and resolve issues. No peace in either country without each other."

Besides, ANP provincial president, and former chief minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, the party central and provincial leaders, a large number of workers were present in the public gathering.

Workers wore traditional party red-colour caps. They were shouted pro-party leaders' slogans and against the incumbent PTI-led provincial government.

The ANP chief said that every institution should limit itself to its constitutional limits, adding that the ANP would oppose any undemocratic move in the country. "Bacha Khan Baba and Wali Khan Baba taught us the value of democracy," he said. He said that Niazi sent lanaat (curse) on the parliament. "The same parliament that he himself is a member. He's not even willing to leave this parliament."

ANP chief warned the provincial government to arrest the killer of Asma within a week, otherwise the ANP would come on roads. He asked the women to stand strong with Bacha Khan Baba's movement. He announced that the ANP would rally in every district of the province.

Earlier addressing rally, provincial president of ANP said that the implementation of the 18th amendment and the merger of Fata with Pakhtunkhwa were top priorities of the ANP. He claimed that ANP's govt had set up and opened 10 new universities in its tenure under the leadership of Asfandyar Wali Khan.

He further said ANP achieved a lot for Pakhtunkhwa and for the people of Pakhtunkhwa under the leadership of Asfandyar Khan during ANP's govt. Pervez Khattak and PTI's politics are Punjab centric. He called on the party leaders and workers to be ready for the next election and reject to those people which had raised 'Hollow change' slogan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Hoti, who was the chief minister during the ANP government, said that the contesting candidates had already got tickets and now need to concentrate on mass contact campaign because the time was short and every constituency the workers must reach to nook and corner to strengthen the party before other parties launch the election campaign. He called on the party leaders and workers to shun their differences and work with complete determination for the party.

"No doubt the future belongs to ANP. We would form the next government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," he said. Hoti said that PTI had failed on all fronts and made only hollow slogans to mislead the people and deceive them once again in the general election but the masses had tested its leadership and now knew about their tactics.

Mian Iftikhar, the party central general secretary said the rally was not part of the election campaign of the ANP. He said Bacha Khan throughout his life preached peace and brotherhood. He said the ANP is strictly following the founders' ideology of non-violence.
